This will be based around the delightful village of Loggos, the smallest of the three coastal villages on the beautiful Greek island of Paxos, but you will also spend time visiting other parts of the island. You will stay in lovely villas, each with its own pool and spacious terraces, set in the shade and tranquillity of the olive groves about a 20-minute walk or five-minute drive above Loggos.

Tuition will be based around morning group sessions and early evening get-togethers, and you will work outside as much as possible so that you can take your inspiration from the beautiful land and seascapes. There will be plenty of opportunities for individual advice and Helen will also be on hand during the afternoons to help those who wish to continue painting. Friday will be a free day to give you the chance to carry on painting, explore the rest of the island or simply relax.

During the week Helen's aim will be to help you to develop individual creativity by experimenting with colour, composition and materials. You will investigate different techniques with watercolour and mixed media, looking at contemporary artists to see other interpretations.

The holiday cost includes tuition, accommodation in a shared twin room in a villa with private pool, return transfers between Corfu and Loggos, breakfast, 5 lunches and 5 dinners (with wine) in local tavernas, welcome and farewell drinks and local transport for the painting sessions. There is a supplement of £95 per person for sole use of a twin/double room and a reduction for non-painting partners. Any optional activities such as Greek cookery, Greek dancing and boat trips will be at additional cost.

2. Creative landscape painting at Lulworth Cove

The aim of the course is to allow you to develop at your own pace and in your own way, in a relaxed, friendly and stimulating environment. I will be there to encourage you to explore your own ideas and creativity.

We meet at 4.30pm on the first day and after introductions we’ll go down to the sea to do some quick sketches before relaxing with a drink and a good meal. We finish at 2pm after lunch on the last day. During the week basic skills and ways of approaching the subject will be demonstrated – the aim is to develop individual creativity by experimenting with colour, composition and materials. Different techniques with watercolour and mixed media will be investigated, looking at contemporary artists to see some other interpretations.

The Hotel

The Cromwell House Hotel provides a relaxing and welcoming base for the holiday. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the sea and has wonderful views from the gardens and many of the rooms. The price includes five nights full board and single ensuite rooms. The spacious dining room with views over the village and the sea will be our studio if the weather is wet, though the course will be based outside as much as possible. A list of materials will be sent out when booking.

NB the course includes some steep walks to reach the best viewpoints!

3. Rambles with a Sketchbook, Somerset

11-15 May 2013 - £455

This holiday is based at the HF house at Selworthy, a beautiful area on the edge of Exmoor. We will walk up to 4 miles a day with several stops for sketching. There will be a wide variety of subjects including thatched cottages, boats, hills, cliffs, and maybe the odd wild pony!

Locations will include the Valley of the Rocks and Culbone Church (reputedly the smallest church in England and only approachable on foot. The holiday includes four nights full board,l tuition and transport.
